Exploring Belfast’s Hidden Histories with Queen’s University Belfast

We were delighted to lead our second Anti-Slavery Belfast walking tour for the Psychology Department at Queen’s University Belfast, exploring the city’s connections to the transatlantic slave trade and its important role in the abolitionist movement.

Joined by undergraduate students, PhD researchers and university staff, we explored the streets of Belfast, uncovering fascinating and often overlooked stories of the people, places and events that shaped the city’s complex history.

The tour offered an opportunity to reflect on Belfast’s links to slavery alongside its rich abolitionist heritage, highlighting the individuals and movements that campaigned for freedom and social justice.

It was a thoroughly engaging and thought-provoking experience, with plenty of interesting discussions and questions along the way.
