We are teaming up with Douglass Week 2024 for two special Belfast walks to showcase the city’s anti-slavery history. Douglass Week encompasses a diverse array of discussions, performances, exhibitions, and events aimed at fostering collaboration and active participation. Spearheaded by the Globe Lane Initiative in conjunction with a broad network of Douglass scholars, historians, researchers, as well as artists, musicians, poets, community groups, and activists from across the globe, this week-long initiative serves as a platform for engaging with the legacy of Douglass and other catalysts for change. Through historical, creative, academic, cultural, and various other perspectives, participants explore the enduring impact of history on present-day issues and dialogues.
We’re holding two walks that focus on Douglass’ time in Belfast and Belfast’s wider history as a slavery city and anti-slavery hub. The dates are:
14.4.24 at 13:30
16.4.24 at 10:30.
