SHANKILL LIBRARY, SHANKILL ROAD 31 Jul 2025, 1:00 pm Mark Doherty, local historian and tour guide will give an illustrated talk about the antislavery movement through the lens of three prominent Presbyterian abolitionists who were also watchmakers. From 1786, when the forming of a Belfast Slave Ship Company was prevented, until abolition 100 years later, there was always at least one abolitionist watchmaker working in Belfast. Free event.
